Visitamos la Asociación Un corazón más para Cristo, en Brasilito, donde sus impulsores atienden a chicos y adultos vulnerables o de escasos recursos.

Aída Yorlene Cortés Mora y Johnny A. Namoyures Huertas son los creadores de la Asociación Un corazón más para Cristo, un centro comunitario en Brasilito que se encarga de la atención social de decenas de niños y adultos con vulnerabilidades.
Este comedor, creado en 2021, no sólo da alimentación sino también refuerzo escolar y contención social a las familias de la zona. No tiene ayuda estatal y todo es un trabajo a pulmón de la pareja, que a veces no da abasto con los pedidos de ropa, comida, útiles o medicamentos. El, con lo que genera como maestro mayor de obras, y ella con la venta de ropa de segunda mano.
“Aquí los chicos llegan con muchas necesidades de salud, económicas, ecológicas, alimenticias… Y eso es justamente lo que ha abierto mi corazón para ayudar hasta donde yo pueda. Es muy difícil querer y poder pagar todas las necesidades con el ingreso de una sola pareja. No obstante, nuestro fuerte está en lo espiritual, donde volcamos valores que se han perdido. Hemos visto cambios en los rostros de los niños que no te imaginas”, revela Aída.
Esta limonense de 48 años revela a The Tamarindo News que ni bien pisaron junto a su marido se dieron cuenta “de la gran necesidad que había en la niñez y en la adultez”, y fue lo que los motivó a crear esta sede.
“Aquí hacemos un poco de todo: tenemos clases de arte, reforzamos el español, matemáticas e inglés, cuando tienen alguna tarea de la escuela vienen acá y yo les enseño a hacerlas. También si tienen alguna necesidad de material didáctico, hojas, lápices o borradores se les suple (siempre y cuando tengamos)”, agrega ante la consulta de este diario.
ALIANZAS
‘El comedor de Aída’, como se le conoce popularmente, recibe a más de 30 niños diarios y funciona todos los días, pero hay momentos donde la cantidad supera la capacidad, tanto en lo que respecta a la cocina como también en las instalaciones.
Pese a ello, las buenas acciones contagian. Siempre. Y así como las personas se suman para dar de comer o enseñar cosas de la escuela, también hay visitantes que les donan ropa o dinero, incluso algunas prendas que reciben de la iglesia local.
Debido a estas necesidades han hecho alianzas con la clínica Beach Side para la consulta sanitaria sin costo, con la Asociación Abriendo Mentes para realizar una base de datos de los niños, con Good Vibes Rock School para las clases de música y con CEPIA, quienes enviaron psicólogas para tratar el caso de un niño y hacer encuestas para analizar el nivel de aprendizaje.
NECESIDADES
La labor de Aída, Johnny y los voluntarios es titánica y demuestra la fragilidad de un sistema que está lejos de ser estable. Incluso, hay veces que deben decir que no. Ya sea porque no tienen o no pueden.
“En la actualidad tenemos dos aulas de madera que ya están siendo bombardeadas por el comedor, por eso queremos cambiarlas y hacerlas más útiles para los niños”, sostiene Aída.
El comedor actualmente necesita voluntarios para sus dos tandas horarias, de 10 a 12 y de 12 a 14. En esas horas, los chicos juegan, asisten a las clases y ven un video motivacional. “Eso es muy importante porque muchas veces vienen con un decaimiento y un semblante muy bajo, entonces hay que empujarlos e inyectarles adrenalina para que vean que la vida es muy linda” relata Aída.
Esa baja autoestima se debe a una combinación de factores, desde problemas psicológicos y familiares a desnutrición. En el comedor, los chicos son evaluados con un cuestionario y juegan para analizar su razonamiento inmediato.
“Lo que yo quiero es que entiendan que este es un segundo hogar. Mi esposo y yo no tenemos hijos, entonces compramos cosas para ellos como si lo fueran. Aquí pueden venir a jugar, a gritar, y la verdad que ellos se sienten súper bien porque el ‘problema’ es que no quieren irse (risas),” afirma Aída.

A canteen where food is love for others
We visited the Association Un corazón más para Cristo, in Brasilito, where its promoters help children and adults who are vulnerable or have limited resources.

Aída Yorlene Cortés Mora and Johnny A. Namoyures Huertas are the creators of the Asociación Un corazón más para Cristo, a community centre in Brasilito that provides social care for dozens of vulnerable children and adults.
This canteen, created in 2021, not only provides food but also school reinforcement and social support to families in the area. It has no state aid and everything is the work of the couple, who sometimes can’t keep up with the requests for clothes, food, school supplies or medicines. He, with what he generates as a master builder, and she with the sale of second-hand clothes.
“Here the children arrive with many health, economic, ecological and nutritional needs… And that is exactly what has opened my heart to help as much as I can. It is very difficult to want and to be able to pay for all the needs with the income of a single couple. However, our strength lies in the spiritual aspect, where we are able to give back values that have been lost. We have seen changes in the children’s faces that you can’t imagine”, reveals Aida.
The 48-year-old Limonense told The Tamarindo News that as soon as she and her husband arrived, they realised “what a great need there was in children and adults”, and that is what motivated them to create this centre.
“Here we do a bit of everything: we have art classes, we reinforce Spanish, maths and English, when they have homework they come here and I teach them how to do it. Also, if they have any need for teaching materials, sheets, pencils or erasers, we supply them (as long as we have them),” he adds when asked by this newspaper.
PARTNERSHIPS
Aida’s dining room’, as it is popularly known, receives more than 30 children a day and works every day, but there are times when the number of children exceeds the capacity, both in terms of the kitchen and the facilities.
Nevertheless, good deeds are contagious. Always. And just as people join in to give food or teach things from the school, there are also visitors who donate clothes or money, even some clothes that they receive from the local church.
Because of these needs, they have made alliances with the Beach Side clinic for free health consultations, with the Asociación Abriendo Mentes to create a database of the children, with Good Vibes Rock School for music classes and with CEPIA, who sent psychologists to treat the case of a child and carry out surveys to analyse the level of learning.
NEEDS
The work of Aida, Johnny and the volunteers is titanic and demonstrates the fragility of a system that is far from stable. There are times when they even have to say no. Either because they don’t have or they can’t.
“At the moment we have two wooden classrooms that are already being bombarded by the canteen, so we want to change them and make them more useful for the children,” says Aida.
The canteen currently needs volunteers for its two shifts, from 10am to 12pm and 12pm to 2pm. During these hours, the children play, attend classes and watch a motivational video. “This is very important because they often come with a very low self-esteem, so we have to push them and inject them with adrenaline so that they see that life is very beautiful,” says Aida.
This low self-esteem is due to a combination of factors, from psychological and family problems to malnutrition. In the canteen, the children are assessed with a questionnaire and play games to analyse their immediate reasoning.
“What I want them to understand is that this is a second home. My husband and I don’t have children, so we buy things for them as if they were. They can come here to play, to shout, and the truth is that they feel great because the ‘problem’ is that they don’t want to leave (laughs),” says Aida.
