Costa Rican surfer Leilani McGonagle took the first place of the Krui Pro 2019, WQS 1000 points in Indonesia.

McGonagle got the win with a score of 14.84 (8.67 one of the highest scored waves in the competition and 6.17), beating Hawaiian contender Keala Tomoda who scored 13.76.

“I am shaking right now!”. “I know how good Keala has been surfing all week and I know she can get big scores so I was never sure I’d won until the end. This is one of the most amazing waves I have ever seen for a contest! Winning feels great, it reminds you why you travel around the world and work so hard. I feel great”, commented McGonagle after her win

This win earned Leilani position 20 of the world ranking going up 19 steps from position 39; it is also her best result so far this year and her third WQS win. McGonagle won Chile in 2017 and Barbados in 2018.

Leilani also gets back in the race for the World Championship Tour 2020.
