ICE Builds a tower in Tamarindo to improve mobile phone service

THE Tamarindo News received an email from a resident who complained about the construction of a tower, which, according to the document, infringes on the scenic beauty of the area. It is located 100 meters away from the beach and could pose a danger to those who walk by and/or live in the area. The Tamarindo News contacted ICE; their representative replied to our message as follows: “Every one of ICE’s constructions must have the environmental permit of the Environmental Technical Secretariat (SETENA). The radio base in Tamarindo and all the other bases installed should have been granted such permits. This tower will allow us to assist the coverage of the Advanced Mobile 3G System for residents and tourists in the area to enjoy a mobile broadband service and other facilities inherent to this technology. The company is committed to community development through activities that include sustainable development. Each work has been planned with the interest of generating minimal impact to the surrounding populations.” Information given anonymously indicates that another antenna was built behind the trailer that used to house ICE offices in Huacas. It allows an improvement in the reception of the new 3G technology. The same source revealed that the purchase of land in Avellanas, where a tower was planned to be built, was hampered because the neighbors did not agree with its construction.
